Banfi Vigna Marrucheto 2020 – Brunello di Montalcino:

The nose is greedy, roasted and expresses aromas of fresh ripe and dried fruits (wild strawberry, morello cherry, roasted and dried red cherry, roasted raspberry, red currants, fresh blackcurrant), as well as an expressive menthol scent after aeration – liquorice, cardamom, peppermint, dried pine needles, a hint of Mediterranean herbs), as well as a fine toasted and cocoa side in the background (toasted bitter almond, coffee, cocoa). The nose is tense and straight while remaining refined and floral (lilac, cornflower). The palate is savoury, very fresh and tangy (red cherry, blackcurrant, blueberry, raspberry, crunchy raspberry), with a fresh hint of menthol and touches of tasty spices (liquorice, cardamom, white pepper, hint of nutmeg). Beautiful persistence on fine toasted flavours (hazelnut, coffee, wood and cocoa in the background, plus a very light touch of grilled vanilla), freshness, a nice acidity, the tannins are finely tight.
