Monferrato mourns the death of Maurio Gaudio

One of the fathers of Grignolino has died. He was 74 years old and is survived by his wife Gabriella and daughters Valentina and Beatrice.

One of the symbols of Monferrato died on Sunday 18th August at his home in Vignale Monferrato; although ill, he was still actively involved in the winery, attentive and passionate about what he had dedicated his life to: wine. The Grignolino.

Gaudio, Amilcare’s son, ran the winery with great enthusiasm and determination. He took it to international markets and gave it a more versatile and accessible image, especially with the vintage version made entirely in steel.

A man of culture, with a background in classical studies and a degree in chemical engineering from the Polytechnic University of Turin, he decided to invest in the acquisition of new vineyards when he joined the winery. This led to the creation of the current estate, with vineyards in Vignale, Camagna and Casorzo. In addition to Grignolino, the winery also produces Barbera, Freisa, Cortese and Malvasia among the white wines.
