Palladino, Barolo Parafada 2020 – Barolo

Palladino, Barolo Parafada 2020 – Barolo

The wine has a pale ruby color, with slight garnet reflections. The nose is fragrant and combines fine herbaceous notes with spiciness and a racy minerality. It expresses the aromas of dried peppermint, dried thyme, dried rose, dried violet, graphite, white pepper, liquorice and vanilla, enveloped in a fresh and tangy fruits (notes of dried raspberry, crunchy strawberry, cranberries, bigarreau cherry and morello cherry). We also find a discreet toasted and smoky note in the background. The palate is gourmand, straight and structured. The tannins are slightly grippy on attack, but have a fine grain and a velvety texture. It expresses the flavors of wild strawberry, dried red cherry, morello cherry, cranberries and dried raspberry, combined with a touch of dried blackcurrant, fine herbaceous notes (dried mint, bay leaf, Earl Gray tea, thyme), floral bouquet (dried rose) and toasted hints (toasted hazelnut, cocoa, a touch of coffee). The finish is gourmand, with notes of chocolate cherry, mint chocolate and a mineral touch of graphite. Beautiful persistence on the palate, well-structured tannins, freshness thanks to a salivating acidity and good aging potential. The woodiness is still expressive – the wine needs time to integrate it.
