In 2023, the world’s leading trade fair for 100% organic wines, beers, ciders and spirits will take place following the established hybrid format. The next edition will take place on 30&31 January – 1 February 2023 at the Parc des Expositions in Montpellier. The digital session will take place one week before the show, from 23 to 24 January 2023.
Each year, Millésime Bio has the privilege to unveil the new vintages in January. In 2023 it opens the ball with an online session. This new digital format has proved its worth in previous years, as a useful alternative to meeting. The exhibitors were in favour of maintaining it, as it creates an additional opportunity for prospecting and makes potential buyers who would not otherwise travel accessible with a simple click. It is an optimised version, with an even more powerful search engine. The physical exhibition in Montpellier, from 30 January to 1 February 2023, will give the opportunity to find the friendly atmosphere of the exhibition, and to taste wines and other alcoholic beverages together. In 2022, the fair welcomed more than 1450 exhibitors from the major organic wine producing nations such as Spain, France, Italy, but also representatives of the new wine world or promising future (New Zealand, South Africa, Chile, Argentina, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Hungary).
The organisers carry out rigorous checks on the compliance of the products exhibited with the legislation before the exhibition. They are all certified organic. Each exhibitor must provide copies of the certificates of conformity with the organic production method issued by an approved certification body.
A special feature of Millésime BIO is that the stands are not grouped by region or by appellation but are mixed. This characteristic of the fair is a deliberate choice by the organisers to encourage people to meet and be curious. Each exhibitor has the same exhibition material: a counter, two chairs, a spittoon, tasting glasses, ice and a display stand. It’s about judging and comparing wines, not about all the exhibition techniques! Here, all exhibitors are on an equal footing to present their products.
In addition, visitors can participate in the many masterclasses, technical seminars and conferences offered at the show to get the latest information on the sector and meet experts and technicians in person. Particular attention is paid to the self-service tasting area, where each stand is classified by country, region and colour to help guide visitors.
The study commissioned by Sudvinbio to Ipsos in 2022 shows a good progression of organic wine consumption in Europe. The demand for organic wine is growing, with more widespread and regular consumption and an ever younger consumer profile. It is above all respect for the environment that is a determining factor in the choice of organic wine.
