Château d’Ausone – Saint-Emilion

(65% Cabernet Franc, 35% Merlot) The nose is elegant, aromatic, airy, beautifully aromatic, ample, voluptuous and offers a lovely melodious, 3D/multilayered side as well as complexity. There are notes of violet, bright black cherry, brilliant violet plum and small notes of blueberry, associated with touches of crushed raspberry, hints of small roasted-elegant fruits, plum blossom, as well as fine hints of lilac, licorice stick/badian, a hint of nutmeg, a subtle hint of almost wisteria, toasted hazelnut, red pepper and sweet pepper. The palate is well-built, fresh, fruity, well-balanced and offers brilliance, brightness, gourmandise, a tangy frame, tension, precision, roundness of finesse and delicacy. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of brilliant red cherry, brilliant cassis and small notes of violet plum, combined with touches of small bright red berries, bright/ripe cranberry, hints of chocolate, toast, toasted hazelnut, as well as fine hints of sweet tobacco, smoke, sweet spices and a subtle, almost wisteria-like hint (in the background). The tannins are mellow, fleshy and gourmand. Good length. Lovely mellowness. Superb brilliance, fruit brightness, aromatic depth… precision, harmony, elegance and lovely purity of fruit.
